Mutual Hunger
This second chapter of Dust & Blood deepens and expands the central idea that gives life to the collection. If The Release represents the moment when an inner force breaks free from its restraints, Mutual Hunger explores what happens next: the moment that force finds its echo in another wild presence.
The first piece is about liberation.
The second is about recognition.
About the strange ability of certain forces to find one another across vast distances and understand each other without the need for words. There is a silent continuity between both works: the same untamed nature that first awakens, and then discovers it is not alone.
At first glance, this piece may seem rooted in the idea of necessity, driven by hunger as its central impulse. Yet beneath the surface lies something deeper.
The bird could have chosen any other place to stand.
The bull could have continued forward alone.
And yet, they remain together.
That is where the quiet tension of the work resides.
Their relationship does not feel built on utility or convenience. Instead, it suggests a form of recognition, as though both presences share a truth that requires no explanation. Something ancient. Something that exists beyond reason and beyond language.
It is here that the work transcends the idea of hunger itself. Hunger remains, but it is no longer the center of the story. What emerges instead is a silent complicity between two wild forces that bear little resemblance to one another, yet move forward as though answering the same call.
That connection gives Mutual Hunger a deeper emotional dimension. The bird and the bull cease to be symbols of survival or predation and become something far more difficult to define: an alliance born of instinct, sustained by admiration, and strengthened through mutual recognition.
Two different natures finding something familiar within each other.
As if, in the midst of all their differences, they shared the same destiny.
